Juniper, Lake Tenaya [Fragment of a Juniper Tree, High Sierra]. Silver print, the image measuring 9½x7½ inches (24.1x19.1 cm.), the mount 17x14 inches (43.2x35.6 cm.), with Weston's initials and date 1938 in pencil in Brett Weston's hand on mount recto, and Edward Weston's title, notation "No. 402," and negative notation J4-1g in pencil in his hand, on mount verso. 1937 or 1938

As of this writing, we do not know of any other examples of this image to appear at auction. We only know of one reproduction of this image, where it is titled Fragment of a Juniper Tree, High Sierra: Davenport, John, "Genius: Edward Weston of California," Lilliput 11:5, Issue No. 65 (November 1942): 405–414. [8 Illus. This Illus. p. 409]. The image does not appear in Amy Conger's catalogue, but another image of juniper tree does appear there as cat. no. 1087/1937.
